You’ll quickly learn why the ancient Coast Salish First Nations named this region Cowichan, which means The Warm Land. Warm, dry summers reward you with sunny days with average daily temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius. Even winters are mild.

Surrounding communities include Youbou, Honeymoon Bay and Mesachie Lake. The
nearby town of Lake Cowichan offers shopping, restaurants, including an Irish Pub, galleries and
even its own theatre company. You’ll love the
town’s annual festival, Lake Days, which takes
place every June and features the Great Inner
Tube Race.

 

In town and along the road, you’ll discover handmade furniture, organic produce, fresh flowers and unique crafts. When you feel like exploring more of the Cowichan region, you’ll discover the charms of the Cowichan Valley, home to over a dozen wineries – and a cidery. After all, you’re living in the region they call Napa North. Sip wine, try certified balsamic vinegar, nibble cheeses from an artisan cheese maker, and visit local farms for organic berries, fruits, veggies and lavender. You’ll never eat so well!

Go for that hole in one at March Meadows Golf
Club in Honeymoon Bay, resident club of LPGA’s Dawn Coe-Jones. This championship course is reminiscent of Scotland with rolling landscape, meandering creeks and stone bridges. Cowichan Golf Club and Arbutus Ridge are a short drive away.
